About Our Business
Burgundy Bistro opened its doors in November of 1993 with just 6 tables and a beautiful
mahogany bar built in 1947 seating 12. It was so small, the whole restaurant was non-
smoking. The bar remains, but the restaurant space has since tripled and the seating capacity
more than quadrupled to 29 tables. Plus, a banquet room has been added that seats up to 100
people. The original space, with the bar, is now the smoking section and with a couple of TVs
makes this the only "sports Bistro" in the Chicago Southland! More than two thirds of the
restaurant remains non-smoking with the main section open to the kitchen.

The owners, Harry, the Chef, and Adele, the manager, are a husband and wife team that
decided to change careers from the computer field to go into the restaurant business. What
kind of restaurant to open was decided during their travels to Italy and France, New Orleans
and the American Southwest. They fell in love with the informal and unpretentious style of the
French Bistro, but wanted to include all the foods they loved. And so, Burgundy Bistro was born,
named more for a street in the French Quarter of New Orleans than for the region in France
where the fabulous Burgundy wines come from. So, on the menu you’ll find Beef Bourguignon,
Cassoulet, Bouillabaisse, Linguini and Mussels, Blackened Salmon, Jambalaya, Crab Cakes,
New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp, Horseradish Encrusted Salmon, Catfish and other fresh fish,
plus grilled steaks and chops and lots more! And that's true now more than ever with our
emphasis on World Cuisine.
